Overview
This three-week pre-Ramaḍān course provides a clear and practical grounding in the essential rulings related to fasting. It is designed to prepare participants to observe the fast with confidence, correctness and sound understanding.
The course covers the purpose and legal status of fasting, who is obligated to fast, the conditions for the validity of the fast, what invalidates it and when qaḍāʾ or kaffārah is required. Common mistakes and contemporary issues related to fasting are also addressed.
This program equips participants with the clarity and practical knowledge needed to observe Ramaḍān correctly, in accordance with Ḥanafī fiqh.

Shaykh Khazen Zaoud
Teacher
Khazen Zaoud began his journey of sacred knowledge by memorising the Qur’an in Australia under the guidance of Shaykh Abdul Moez & Shaykh Abdul Kareem Newman. In 2005, he travelled to Yemen where he studied for a year at a branch of Dar al-Mustafa. He then moved to Damascus, Syria, and pursued formal studies at Ma’had al-Fath al-Islami, graduating in 2011 with a focus on Arabic and the Sharia sciences, and receiving an ijazah in Qur’an.
Returning to Australia in 2012, he served as the Imam of Lakemba Musalla for several years and taught at Rissalah College in Lakemba. He now continues to teach and serve the community at Daar Ibn Abbas.
