Overview
Our Islamic Studies and Qurʾān course is a holistic program designed to nurture sound belief, meaningful worship and exemplary character, while equipping students with the practical skills required for daily religious life.
Islamic Studies focuses on developing a strong foundation in belief, worship and conduct, with particular emphasis on purification and prayer, taught in an age-appropriate and life-relevant manner. This is complemented by personalised Qurʾān instruction, where students are guided at their own pace from letter recognition through to fluent, tajwīd-accurate recitation and memorisation.
This is a one-day offering, conducted on Saturdays. Other course options are available via Courses.
Islamic Studies
Islamic Studies covers ʿIbādah (worship), ʿAqīdah (belief) and Iḥsān (Islamic conduct, manners and values). The curriculum is based on the well-known Ḥadīth of Jibrīl, in which the Prophet ﷺ defined the three pillars of the religion and their core areas.
Students are introduced to these pillars through gradual explanation, guided discussion and practical application, fostering a holistic and grounded understanding of Islam. A dedicated portion of each level focuses on prayer and its preparation, delivered in a manner that is age-appropriate, relevant to life in Australia and taught by experienced and qualified instructors.
Mastery Subjects
Mastery subjects include Ṭahārah (purification) and Ṣalāh (prayer). Students are encouraged to both memorise and apply the essential rulings of purification — including its conditions, integrals, nullifiers and recommended and disliked acts — as well as the prayer itself, ensuring the validity of their worship.
Sūrat al-Fātiḥah, the Tashahhud and Ṣalāt al-Ibrāhīmiyyah are taught through guided dictation and printed materials to support accurate memorisation.
Qurʾān
Qurʾān instruction includes learning to read, tajwīd, recitation and memorisation. Students progress at their own pace in a one-on-one class setting, beginning with letter recognition and correct pronunciation where required, and advancing through the theory and practical application of tajwīd.
The program caters to all levels, from beginners learning the Arabic alphabet to students actively memorising. Competency in tajwīd, as assessed by the teachers, is a prerequisite for commencing memorisation.
